Bus Lane Driving In Delhi / More than 3300 vehicles fined for violation of rules

Over 3,300 vehicles were fined in a month as part of the enforcement drive launched for lane driving for buses. During this, action was also taken on 401 buses for ignoring the rules.


These include buses of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster. Lane driving was implemented for buses so that buses do not get obstructed on the way. For not following the lane rules, a fine of Rs 10,000 is being imposed on the bus. Whereas, for other vehicles, the fine ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 2000. In the third phase, this campaign will be run on Ring Road and Outer Ring.


More than 130 teams of Delhi's Transport Department, Police and other departments are constantly on the roads. During this, immediate action is being taken if the rules are ignored. So that the passengers do not face any problem on the road. Fines are being imposed on those who do not follow the lane rules. There are also provisions for many strict action including suspension of license for repeated mistakes.


Teams have been formed to maintain better traffic management on the roads and follow the lane rules of buses. The campaign was started from April 1. Since then, departmental teams are continuously taking action. In the next phase, lane driving system will be implemented in 10 different sections of Ring Road and Outer Ring Road.


Awareness message on buses

After the introduction of lane driving, awareness messages for lane driving are also being given through cluster and DTC buses. Describing lane driving as safe, everyone is being appealed to stay in the designated lane. So that everyone can be comfortable. If lane driving is strictly followed on all roads then traffic system can be improved to a great extent. However, some narrow roads are facing difficulties in implementing it.


100 electric buses will get gift

Commuters traveling in the dilapidated buses of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will soon get a gift of 100 electric buses. For this, all the preparations have been completed in the depot and they are likely to be taken off the roads next week. This will make it easier for the commuters to reach their destinations by getting rid of the shortage of DTC buses. In the first phase, 300 e-buses will be started from three depots.


At present, DTC has old buses in its fleet. Due to this many times the passengers are facing problems during the journey. Passengers in old buses are also worried about safety, including the incident of bus breakdown, fire in the middle of the way. Before inducting e-buses in DTC's fleet, the charging infrastructure at the depot is being rectified. According to sources, in the first phase, e-buses will start operating from three depots including Mundela Kalan and Rohini Sector-37.
