Rajasthan: The land of Rajasthan, once resonating with tales of Rajput valor and justice, has become a shameful example of thuggery and the misuse of power. Arjunlal Jingar, the BJP MLA from Kapasan constituency, who rose to power on the foundation of election promises, has now become an enemy of an innocent young man who dared to remind him of those promises. Suraj Mali, a youth aged 20-30, merely posted a reel on social media to remind the MLA of his election promise – to bring water from the Matrikundia Dam to Kapasan’s Rajrajeshwar Sarovar (pond). But what did he get in return for this 'crime'? A life-threatening attack with sticks, iron rods, and pipes, leaving both his legs shattered. Now, he battles for life in an Ahmedabad hospital, while the MLA cries 'conspiracy' to clear his name. Is this the BJP’s 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' government?
The Reality of Election Promises: A Brutal Attack for Demanding Water
Suraj Mali, an ordinary young man from Dhobi Kheda or Bhopal Kheda village, earns a living as a factory worker to support his family. Frustrated by the severe water crisis in the area, he posted videos on Instagram reminding MLA Arjunlal Jingar of his election promises. “Bring water to the pond, give relief to the people” – a simple demand. But the MLA’s supporters took it as a challenge. First came threats, then pressure from the factory owner and supervisor to delete the video. Frightened, Suraj removed the reel, but to what avail? On September 15, while returning home from Singhpur or Gangrar on the Chittorgarh-Kapasan State Highway, 6-7 masked goons in a Scorpio attacked him. They tried to abduct him, but his friend Uday Lal saved him. The attackers mercilessly struck his legs, breaking his bones. Suraj was rushed from Kapasan hospital to Chittorgarh, then Udaipur, and finally Ahmedabad. His mother, Kanku Devi, fainted during a protest, as three to four days have passed with no sign of justice.
This attack was no mere coincidence but a planned conspiracy. Suraj, in his police statement, directly expressed suspicion against the MLA. The MLA himself posted on X (Twitter), blaming 'anti-social elements' and pretending to instruct the police. But the question remains – if the MLA is innocent, why are the attackers still at large after more than three days? Why is it so difficult for the police to trace a Scorpio and masked goons in a small area like Kapasan? Additional SP Sarita Singh’s rote response – “The investigation is ongoing” – isn’t this silence under political pressure?
Government Collusion: Police Failure and Political Thuggery
This incident exposes the true face of Rajasthan’s BJP government. While Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma boasts of development, his MLAs suppress voices through goons. Congress workers and locals took to the streets, holding rallies, protests, and issuing a 24-hour ultimatum. But what happened? The police deployed additional forces, as if the protesters were the criminals. Congress leaders Udaylal Anjana and Lalit Boriwal called it an attack on democracy, but the government remains silent. Why hasn’t the MLA been immediately suspended? Why is there no demand for a CBI probe? It’s clear that thuggery is thriving under the patronage of power. If such brutality is meted out for a simple demand for water, what will happen to farmers or laborers who raise their issues tomorrow?
This is not the first such case in Rajasthan. Under BJP rule, allegations of political violence, police collusion, and suppression of opposition voices have surfaced repeatedly. But Suraj Mali’s case is extreme – a youth peacefully reminding an MLA of promises on social media was crippled. Is this the 'Digital India' where raising a voice gets your legs broken?
A case has been filed against MLA Arjun Lal Jinagar.
A young man's social media post and video about water issues proved costly for him. He was assaulted by masked men. The young man has filed a police complaint accusing BJP MLA Arjun Lal Jinagar of Kapasan. He alleges that he was assaulted because of his social media posts.
Demand for Justice: Arrest the MLA and Hold the Government Accountable
Arjunlal Jingar, your post expressing 'sympathy' is mere pretense. If you are innocent, cooperate with the investigation and bring your supporters forward. But the truth is, this attack is proof of your thuggery. Like Suraj Mali, millions of youths are raising their voices on social media today – will they all be crushed? Questions for the government: Why hasn’t the water promise been fulfilled? Who is responsible for the police’s failure?
