The Axiom-4 mission with Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla and three other passengers took off for the International Space Station (ISS) at 12:01 pm on Wednesday. Shubhanshu sent the first message from the spacecraft, saying, "After 41 years we are in space again, this is the beginning of India's human space program."

Axiom 4 Mission: Another golden chapter has been added to Indian space history. The Axiom-4 mission, carrying Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla and three other astronauts, has successfully departed for the International Space Station (ISS). This historic mission was launched as scheduled on Wednesday afternoon at 12:01 pm. With this, Shubhanshu has given India a proud presence in space again after 41 years.

Shubhshu's first message from the spacecraft: Full of pride and patriotism

As soon as the flight took off, Shubhanshu Shukla's first message came out from the spacecraft, which filled the heart of every Indian with pride. He said:

"Hello my dear countrymen, after 41 years we have reached space again. At this time we are moving around the Earth at a speed of 7.5 kilometers per hour. I have the tricolor on my shoulder, which is telling me that I am not alone, you all are with me."

He further said:

“This is not the beginning of my journey, but the beginning of India's human space program. I want all of you to be a part of this journey. Let us all write this new chapter of India together. Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!”

The launch kept getting postponed again and again, finally the wait ended on June 24

The launch of the Axiom-4 mission had been postponed several times. Earlier it was to be launched on May 29, but due to technical and other reasons its date was changed several times—June 8, June 10 and then June 11. But finally, on June 24, this much-awaited mission was launched, which caught the attention of not only India but the whole world.

Four passengers from four countries, 14 days of space stay

Axiom-4 is a joint mission of NASA and SpaceX, which is the fourth mission sent to the ISS privately. It includes one astronaut each from India, America, Poland and Hungary. All of them will reach the ISS at 4.30 pm on Thursday evening Indian time after a 28-hour space journey and will participate in various scientific and technological experiments there for 14 days.
