Drugs on cruise case | Vigilance probe by the Norcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has indicated that no money was sought for the release of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, in the cruise drugs case. It is believed that no evidence has been found in NCB's vigilance to substantiate the allegation of demanding money.

In fact, in this case, a witness named Prabhakar Sail, apart from an affidavit, had claimed in a conversation with the media that Rs 25 crore was allegedly demanded to release Aryan Khan. Soon after, NCB Director General SN Pradhan ordered a vigilance inquiry into the matter.

Aryan Khan was caught on October 2 last year during a raid on Cordelia Cruises and got bail after spending 22 days in jail. NCB has given clean chit to Aryan Khan in this case due to lack of sufficient evidence. Prabhakar Sail, who is now dead, had alleged that he overheard a witness in the case, KP Gosavi, talking on the phone with a man named Sam D'Souza.

What did Prabhakar say?

According to Prabhakar, they were talking about a deal to settle the matter for Rs 18 crore, of which Rs 8 crore was to be given to Sameer Wankhede, the then regional director of NCB's Mumbai unit. According to police, Prabhakar Sail (40) died of a heart attack in April.

Sal had claimed that on October 3, 2021, he saw Gosavi meeting Shah Rukh Khan's manager Pooja Dadlani along with Sam and they had a short meeting in a blue Mercedes car parked in Lower Parel area of Mumbai. He had said in his affidavit that he collected two bags containing Rs 38 lakh in cash. While Wankhede has denied these allegations, Gosavi is currently lodged in a Pune jail in a cheating case registered by the Maharashtra Police.

No physical or technical evidence found

Sources said that the vigilance probe has reportedly found that the allegations of extortion from Aryan Khan's family are not true as no physical or technical evidence was found to corroborate the allegation. He said that the persons named on behalf of SAIL in the alleged conspiracy denied any such demand by the investigators or any other person concerned.

Vigilance investigation team questioned all the parties

The vigilance probe team is understood to have questioned and recorded the statements of all the parties, including officials of SAIL and NCB's Mumbai unit Wankhede, VV Singh and Ashish Ranjan Prasad, and Shah Rukh Khan and Dadlani. The final report of this vigilance inquiry conducted by NCB Deputy Director General (Northern Zone) Dnyaneshwar Singh is expected to be submitted to the Director General Pradhan soon.
