The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not send Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to Rajya Sabha again. There was speculation that BJP might field Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi from the Rampur Lok Sabha seat, but these speculations remained just speculations. BJP has given ticket to Ghanshyam Lodhi in Azam Khan's stronghold of Samajwadi Party.

BJP neither sent Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to Rajya Sabha nor made it a candidate for the Rampur parliamentary seat by-election. That is, at present, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is left empty handed. In such a situation, now the discussion has started that for how long Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will remain a minister at the Center, because soon his Rajya Sabha term is also ending. After being sidelined in parliamentary politics, what will be the next step of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, this is also the question?

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was sent to Rajya Sabha by BJP from Jharkhand in 2016. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi's term as Rajya Sabha member ends on July 7. It was believed that BJP would send Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand itself this time too, but it did not happen. BJP has declared Aditya Sahu as Rajya Sabha candidate from Jharkhand this time.

Along with Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, two other Union ministers, Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman, who were ending their term, were both sent to the Rajya Sabha. By-elections were also to be held for Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha seats, which fell vacant due to the resignation of SP national president Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan.

When the BJP did not field Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi for the Rajya Sabha, it was believed that the party might field him from the Rampur Lok Sabha seat, the stronghold of Azam Khan. This discussion was not baseless either. Rampur is a Muslim majority seat and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is counted among the big Muslim faces of BJP.

Doors of Lok Sabha closed after Rajya Sabha

BJP has now announced its candidates for the Lok Sabha by-elections in which Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi's name is not there. BJP has given ticket to Ghanshyam Lodhi from Rampur seat and Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirhua from Azamgarh. After Rajya Sabha, now the doors of Lok Sabha are closed for Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, there are speculations whether Narendra Modi's cabinet will see a reshuffle again?

what are the rules

According to Article 164(4) of the Constitution of India, a person who is not a member of either house can hold the office of a minister in the government for a maximum period of six months. The rules also say that if the person concerned is not elected a member of the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha within six months, then he will have to resign from his ministerial post.

Minister can stay for 1 year

Even after resignation, if the Prime Minister wants, he can make him a minister again, but this opportunity can also be available only once. According to the rules, a person can remain a minister in the government for a maximum period of one year without being elected a member of either house. But this is possible only when the head of the government, that is, the Prime Minister, wants.

The round of speculation has begun

Will this happen in the case of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi or will the BJP send him to the House within six months? Will Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi be dropped from PM Modi's cabinet? The answer to these questions will be given by the time to come, but for the time being, the round of speculation has started again.
