Cricket | Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Saba Karim believes that Shikhar Dhawan will not find a place in India's T20 squad on the basis of ODI performance as he is not in the selectors' plans for this format. Dhawan is currently captaining the Indian team in the three-match ODI series on the West Indies tour. Karim further said that there are already many youngsters in the Indian T20 team and the selectors are looking at them and not Dhawan.

Dhawan scored 97 runs as captain in the first ODI against West Indies. Under his captaincy, India defeated West Indies by 3 runs in the first ODI to take the lead in the series. Dhawan has not been included in the Indian squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against the West Indies.

Saba Karim, in response to a question on India News, said, "I don't think so. The T20 format is quite different. The demands of T20 cricket are quite different. Right now we all are seeing how many excellent young players are winning the hearts of people with their performances. I don't think the selectors will think of including Dhawan in the T20I squad. Although I believe that Dhawan's place in ODI cricket is confirmed. He is a great opener. He and Rohit have a wonderful pair.

The former wicketkeeper-batsman further said, 'Dhawan's performance in ODIs has been excellent. He has scored consistently for the team in this format. Strike rate and average aside, you yourself need a batsman you can trust. The opening pair of Dhawan and Rohit have completely taken the pressure off the middle and lower order batsmen.
