Operation Sindoor: Swiss Report Reveals How IAF Forced Pakistan into Ceasefire

A detailed report by a Swiss think tank highlights India's strategic air superiority during Operation Sindoor, which crippled Pakistan's military infrastructure and forced a ceasefire.

In a revelation that underscores India's growing military dominance, a Swiss military report. Has detailed how the Indian Air Force (IAF) decimated Pakistani defenses during 'Operation Sindoor'. The report suggests that the sheer scale of Indian air superiority left the Pakistani. Military with no choice but to plead for a ceasefire to prevent total collapse.

The Genesis of Operation Sindoor

The report, titled 'Operation Sindoor: The India-Pakistan Air War', was published by the Centre d’Histoire et de Prospective Militaires (CHPM), a Swiss think tank established in 1969. Authored by retired Swiss Air Force Major General Adrian Fontanellaz, the document analyzes the four-day conflict triggered by the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025. India's response was swift, surgical, and strategically overwhelming.

Failure of Pakistan's Drone Strategy

According to the CHPM report, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) attempted to strike deep into Indian territory using advanced drones, including the Yihaa III, Bayraktar TB2, and Akinci. Their targets included strategic air stations like Adampur and Srinagar. However, the Indian air defense umbrella proved impenetrable. The Pakistani drones failed to reach any significant targets, exposing a major vulnerability in their aerial capabilities.

Strategic Strikes and Israeli Technology

India utilized high-tech Israeli loitering munitions, such as Harop and Harpy, which were deployed with high secrecy. On May 8 and 9, the IAF targeted four major air-defense sites, destroying early-warning radars in Chunian and Pasrur. The report also confirms that between May 7 and 10, the IAF successfully shot down five Pakistani fighter jets, including F-16s and JF-17s, further tilting the balance of power.

Deep Strikes and Infrastructure Damage

The IAF demonstrated its 'Escalation Dominance' by firing BrahMos, SCALP-EG, and Rampage missiles from within Indian airspace, while these strikes hit seven major targets up to 200 km deep inside Pakistan. Key installations like the command-and-control center at Noor Khan Air Base and the drone fleet hub at Murid Air Base suffered extensive damage. The destruction of runways at Rahim Yar Khan and Sukkur Air Base effectively grounded the PAF, forcing Pakistan to accept a ceasefire without India ever crossing the nuclear threshold.
