Lok Sabha Elections: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi paid tribute at the Kisan Martyr Memorial located in Munshiganj, Rae Bareli. He also targeted AIMIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi and said that he is working together with BJP. Let us tell you that former Congress President and Priyanka's brother Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Wayanad seat as well as Rae Bareli seat in the Lok Sabha elections. Rahul and Priyanka's mother Sonia Gandhi had won this seat in every Lok Sabha election from 2004 to 2019.

Farmers were gunned down on January 7, 1921

The memorial at which Priyanka paid tribute today is built in memory of the freedom fighters martyred in 1921. During the non-cooperation movement of 1920-21, a peasant movement broke out in Awadh which was led by Baba Ramchandra and Madari Pasi. During the movement, there was a horrific firing in Munshiganj of Rae Bareli. On January 7, 1921, farmers were surrounded and gunned down on the bridge of Sai river. On receiving information about this, Motilal Nehru and Jawaharlal Nehru reached Rae Bareli and met the victimized farmers. When the movement intensified after this massacre, both the leaders were arrested. Later, a martyr memorial was built here in the memory of the martyred farmers.

‘Wherever we have a government, we have fulfilled our promises’

Meanwhile, targeting Owaisi, Priyanka said, 'I am telling you again and again. Asaduddin Owaisi is working directly with BJP. Wherever BJP needs to field someone to push back other parties, he is doing so. This thing has become absolutely clear in the Telangana elections. Priyanka also said, 'In Chhattisgarh we had said that if the loans of farmers are waived off then they will be forgiven. In Karnataka we had said that Rs 2000 will be deposited in the accounts of women, today it is being deposited. Wherever we have a government, we have fulfilled our promises. If our government comes to the Centre, a permanent commission will be formed for loan waiver of farmers. All equipment related to farming will be free from GST.
