Srinagar. A part of an under-construction tunnel collapsed near the National Highway in Mekarkot area of ​​Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, 6 to 7 people are feared to be trapped in the debris of the tunnel. Rescue work is currently going on in the area after the incident. Six to seven people are feared trapped. One person has been saved there. According to officials, a small portion of the front side of the tunnel in Khooni Nallah collapsed on Thursday night. The incident happened when some people were auditing inside the tunnel. Soon after, the police and the army launched a joint rescue operation.

At the same time, the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban was quoted by ANI as saying that a part of an under-construction tunnel collapsed on Khooni Nala of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Mekarkot area of ​​Ramban. 6 to 7 are feared trapped, one person was rescued. Rescue operation is going on. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed due to the ongoing rescue operation.

According to the Hindustan Times report, three workers have been rescued and eight are still trapped under the debris. Ramban Deputy Commissioner Massaratul Islam and Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma are supervising the rescue operation at the spot. Officials said that several machines and vehicles parked in front of the tunnel were damaged. Officials said that several ambulances have been sent from Banihal to the spot.
