Even though the Reserve Bank has given 15 days time to Paytm, despite this the ED's grip continues to be on the company. At the same time, now CBI has also entered the Paytm case. Let us tell you, CBI has raided the house and premises of a senior officer of Paytm Payment Bank. The CBI on Tuesday searched the premises of former Secretary of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Ramesh Abhishek in the disproportionate assets case.

The FIR allegedly lodged against Ramesh Abhishek has not been made public. In such a situation, it is not clear what allegations have been made against him and on which charges the raids have been conducted.

Ramesh Abhishek is a 1982 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre. He retired in 2019. Abhishek was working with Paytm Payments Bank Limited as an independent director after retiring from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). It is being told that the Lokpal has revealed the case of disproportionate assets against him.

Deadline extended till March 15

Last month, RBI had barred Paytm's subsidiary from accepting further deposits, top-up or credit transactions in its operated wallets or accounts from February 29.

However, in the meantime the deadline for services of Paytm Payments Bank has been extended till March 15. For example, customers can make deposits, credit transactions, prepaid services, wallets, Fastag, National Common Mobility Card till March 15, 2024.
