Shan Masood: Pakistan performed very poorly in the T20 World Cup 2023 and the team could not reach the semi-finals. PCB took this decision

Before becoming Test captain, Shan Masood was in D grade in the Central Contract of Pakistan Cricket Board. Now PCB has taken a big decision and changed him from D to B grade. The decision was taken in line with the board's policy that if a central contract player below A or B grade is to be appointed captain, his grade is upgraded to B and this remains applicable for the duration of his tenure.

Played all three formats for Pakistan

Shan Masood has played cricket in all three formats for Pakistan. He has scored 1597 runs for Pakistan in 30 Test matches at an average of 28.5, in which he also has four centuries in his name. Apart from this, he has scored 163 runs in 9 ODI matches and 395 runs in 19 T20 matches.

Will play three test matches against Australia

Shan Masood will captain Pakistan in three Test matches for the first time on Australia tour. Pakistan are currently ranked No. 1 in the World Test Championship points table after defeating Sri Lanka 2-0 in the series in July. The first test against Pakistani team Australia will start in Perth from 14 to 18 December. That will be followed by the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne from 26 December and the series will conclude with the third Test in Sydney from 3 to 7 January 2024.
