New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that permanent solutions to tragedies like 9/11 can be found in human values taught by India.The PM gave this statement while inaugurating Sardardham Bhavan in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad.“September 11 is also important because Swami Vivekananda in 1893 delivered a speech in Chicago teaching the world about our humanitarian values,” he said.Recalling Swami Vivekananda’s iconic 1893 speech at Chicago, the PM said it beautifully demonstrated the salience of Indian culture.Saying that the inauguration of Sardardham Bhavan has been done on an important date, the PM said the 9/11 is a date that is remembered in the history of the world as an attack on humanity, but the same date also taught us about humanitarian values.Sardardham has been working towards educational and social transformation, upliftment of the weaker sections of society and providing employment opportunities to the youth.Set up in Ahmedabad, it includes state-of-the-art facilities for students, with modern amenities. The Kanya Chhatralaya will be a hostel facility for 2,000 girls irrespective of economic criteria.Speaking on the COVID-19 global pandemic, the PM said that coronavirus affected economies of the world, including that of India, but the Indian economy bounced back more than it went down.The US will mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with commemorations at New York’s World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.On September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terrorists carried out a series of four coordinated attacks on the United States. It was the deadliest terrorist attack in its history which left over 3,000 people dead.The milestone anniversary comes just weeks after the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and the return of the Taliban. It was the Taliban that sheltered the Muslim terrorist group Al-Qaeda founded by Osama bin Laden that carried out the attacks.
