New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced to name the Chandigarh airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. PM Modi made this announcement in the 93rd episode of his monthly program Mann Ki Baat aired on All India Radio. He said that there is another reason to celebrate on 28th September. He said, "You know what it is! I will say just two words but I know, your enthusiasm will increase four times more. These two words are surgical strike. The enthusiasm has grown! Let us celebrate the campaign of Amrit Mahotsav which is going on in our country with full enthusiasm, share our happiness with everyone.

Prime Minister Modi said that three days from today, a special day of Amrit Mahotsav is coming on 28th September. This day is the birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh ji, the brave son of Mother India. Just before the birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh, an important decision has been taken as a tribute to him. It has been decided that the Chandigarh airport will now be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. It was awaited for a long time. "I congratulate Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and all the people of the country for this decision," he said.

The Prime Minister said that by taking inspiration from our freedom fighters, following their ideals, we have to build the India of their dreams and this is our tribute to them. The memorials of martyrs, the names of places and institutions named after them inspire us for duty. Just a few days back, the country has made a similar effort by setting up a statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on the duty path and now the name of Chandigarh Airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh is another step in this direction.

He said, "The way we are celebrating on special occasions related to freedom fighters in Amrit Mahotsav, in the same way every youth must try something new on 28th September."
