PM Modi's schedule in Bhutan

During his state visit on March 21 and 22, PM Modi will meet Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his father Jigme Singye Wangchuck. Officials said Modi will also meet Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. PM's visit will include exchange of views on bilateral and regional matters between India and Bhutan and discussions on ways to take the partnership forward and strengthen it to benefit the people of both the countries.

Why is Bhutan important?

Bhutan's border is adjacent to both India and China, which acts as a buffer state. In such a situation, China makes every effort to bring Bhutan to its side.
