The Election Commission has increased the ban on physical rallies. According to the Election Commission, no political party will be able to hold physical rallies and road shows till January 31, although the Election Commission has approved the public meeting. This relaxation will be applicable from January 28 for the first phase candidates and February 1 for the second phase.

As the candidates contesting the first phase of elections will be finalized on January 27, the Election Commission (EC) has decided to allow political parties and candidates to hold public meetings. According to the decision of the Election Commission, candidates can hold public meetings in open spaces with a maximum capacity of 500 people or 50 percent of the space. These events can be organized from January 28 to February 8 according to the limit set by the SDMA.

EC nod to public meetings

The candidates contesting the second phase elections will be finalized on 31 January 2022. That is why the Election Commission has decided to allow political parties or candidates to hold public meetings. During this, public gatherings have been allowed with a maximum capacity of 500 people or 50 percent according to the space and according to the limit set by the SDMA. These meetings can be held from February 1 to February 12.

10 people allowed for door to door campaign

The Election Commission has also given permission to more than 5 people for door to door campaign. Now instead of 5 people, 10 people will be able to go for campaigning, in this the security personnel have been kept separately. At the same time, the other guidelines of the door to door campaign campaign will continue as before. Accordingly, meetings can be held.

The Election Commission has also allowed campaigning through video vans with general corona restrictions. In this, a maximum of 500 people or 50 percent people will be able to participate according to the capacity of the open space and according to the limit fixed by the SDM. The Election Commission has given instructions that political parties and candidates will have to ensure that the corona rules are followed. At the same time, along with proper behavior, guidelines and model code of conduct, activities related to elections will have to be conducted. It has been said by the Election Commission that the responsibility of identifying the nominees and informing them will be the responsibility of the concerned DEO.
