New Delhi: In his address on the last day of 'Nav Sankalp Shivir' in Udaipur, Rahul Gandhi admitted that Congress's 'connection' with the people is broken, and it needs to be rectified immediately. In order to re-establish the relationship with the people of the country, Sonia Gandhi announced that from October 2 this year, Congress will start the India Yatra. The party also announced several organizational reforms to bring in new and young faces in leadership roles at the end of its three-day Chintan Shivir.
Congress brainstorming has indicated that Rahul Gandhi may return as party president later this year. While Sonia gave a short speech, Rahul's speech was long. The former Congress president accused the BJP government at the Center of spreading hatred, putting pressure on the judiciary, twisting the hands of the Election Commission, destroying institutions and strangling the media. But his focus was more on preparing the party to "go back to the people"; He told the Congress leaders present at the Chintan Shivir that there is no 'shortcut' for the revival of the party.Rahul said the party has to accept that it has lost its "relationship" with the people, and it should work towards re-establishing that relationship. He said the entire focus of the Congress is presently on 'internal matters' like who is getting which post. The former Congress president told the party leaders that they should focus their attention on establishing relationships with the people.
