In a significant boost to Rajasthan's road infrastructure, preparations for the 208km long Greenfield Expressway connecting Kotputli to Kishangarh have gained momentum. According to official reports, this project aims to slash the current travel time between the two points from 4 hours to approximately 2 hours. The expressway is also expected to benefit commuters traveling from Delhi to Ajmer, offering a significant reduction in transit time and fuel consumption.
Project Scale and Financial Investment
The four-lane Greenfield Expressway project is estimated to be built at a cost exceeding ₹6,000 crore. This strategic corridor will pass through multiple districts, including Kotputli-Behror, Sikar, Jaipur, and Ajmer. To ensure a smooth flow of high-speed traffic, the design incorporates over 95 underpasses and flyovers. On top of that, the project includes 9 designated entry and exit points at various locations to facilitate regional connectivity without compromising the speed of the main corridor.
Land Acquisition and Public Hearing Schedule
The land acquisition process has officially commenced, with the Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation (RSRDC) organizing public hearing camps at the gram panchayat level. These sessions, which began on April 11 and are scheduled to continue until April 16, are designed to address the grievances and objections of local villagers. The administration has emphasized that the acquisition process will be conducted with full transparency to ensure fair treatment of all stakeholders.
Infrastructure Design and Safety Regulations
To maintain high safety standards and minimize the risk of accidents, the expressway will have restricted access. According to project guidelines, two-wheelers and three-wheelers won't be permitted on this route. For the convenience of local farmers and residents, underpasses will be constructed at intervals of one to two kilometers, allowing for safe passage across the expressway without disrupting the high-speed traffic flow.
Local Concerns and Administrative Response
The expressway is slated to pass through 14 villages in the Kotputli region, including Goneda, Kaluheda, Baneti, Narsinghpura, Amarpura, and others. While the project promises development, local farmers have expressed concerns regarding the loss of fertile agricultural land and the adequacy of compensation. Project Officer Dinesh Kumar Sahu stated that all objections are being recorded and will be resolved systematically, ensuring that affected individuals receive compensation as per government norms.
Impact on Regional Connectivity and Logistics
The completion of the Greenfield Expressway is expected to Notably decongest the existing Delhi-Jaipur and Ajmer highways. By providing a faster alternative, the project is anticipated to reduce road accidents and enhance the efficiency of the logistics sector, while officials believe that improved road infrastructure will lead to faster movement of goods, thereby supporting the regional economy and providing a more reliable transport network for industrial hubs.
