Rajasthan Youth Congress Election Results: Abhishek Choudhary Leads With Over 6 Lakh Votes

Abhishek Choudhary has emerged as the frontrunner in the Rajasthan Youth Congress presidential elections with 615057 votes. The final decision will be made after interviews in Delhi.

The long-awaited results for the Rajasthan Youth Congress presidential and various other organizational positions have finally been declared, while after a period of intense anticipation and procedural delays, the Central Election Authority of the Youth Congress released the results on Sunday evening. The outcome covers the positions of the State President, District Presidents, and the State Executive Committee. According to the official data, Abhishek Choudhary, the former president of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), has emerged as the leading candidate for the post of State President. He secured a massive total of 615057 votes, placing him Importantly ahead of his competitors.

Detailed Vote Breakdown and Rankings

The election saw a competitive race among several prominent young leaders. Anil Chopra, who previously contested as the Congress candidate from the Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha constituency, secured the second position with 545638 votes. Rajkumar Parswal finished in third place, garnering 195030 votes. The margin between the first-placed Abhishek Choudhary and the second-placed Anil Chopra is a substantial 69419 votes. This significant lead highlights the strong support base Abhishek Choudhary managed to mobilize during the extensive election process. Despite the clear lead in votes, the final appointment for the post of President is yet to be finalized through a formal interview process.

The Interview Process and Final Decision

Sajjad Ahmed, the Election Authority Commissioner of the Youth Congress, clarified that the highest vote count doesn't automatically guarantee the presidency. The final decision on who among the top three candidates—Abhishek Choudhary, Anil Chopra, and Rajkumar Parswal—will lead the Rajasthan Youth Congress will be made after interviews in Delhi. The three candidates will soon be summoned to the national capital for a one-on-one interaction. The high-level interview panel will include the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, the National President of Youth Congress Uday Bhanu Chib, and the in-charge Manish Sharma. This interview will determine the most suitable candidate for the leadership role.

Political Alignments and Lobbying

The election results have also highlighted the internal dynamics of the Rajasthan Congress. Political observers and party insiders suggest that intense lobbying will now take place in Delhi among the top three contenders. Abhishek Choudhary is widely considered to be a close associate of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee President Govind Singh Dotasra. On the other hand, Anil Chopra is known to be a close confidant of former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. This adds a layer of factional significance to the final selection process. Following the announcement of the results, Abhishek Choudhary visited the Congress War Room to seek the blessings of Govind Singh Dotasra, while speaking to the media, Choudhary expressed gratitude to his supporters and stated that he intends to lead a struggle on the streets against the current Bhajanlal Sharma-led BJP government.

Inclusive Executive Committee Appointments

An interesting feature of this election is that all 19 candidates who contested for the post of President have been accommodated within the state executive committee. The positions of Vice President, General Secretary, and Secretary have been distributed based on the number of votes each candidate received. For instance, Nisha Khichar, who secured the fourth-highest number of votes with 3338, has been appointed as the State Vice President. Alfiza, who received 2144 votes, has been made Vice President under the minority quota. Other appointments include Chhaganlal Kuldeep, Prakash Chand Meena, and Bhagwati Meena as Vice Presidents under the SC-ST quota. Tejkaran Choudhary has been appointed as State Vice President under the specially-abled quota, while Nirmala Meghwal (SC-ST Women), Yasmin (Minority Women), Sheetal Parihar, and Rahul Khan (OBC quota) have also been appointed as Vice Presidents, while On top of that, Dimple Sindhal, Suman Bano, Divyani Katara, and Pooja Bhargav Ashish have been elected as Secretaries.

A Prolonged Election Timeline

The entire election process for the Youth Congress spanned over 6 months. A record-breaking 3264980 votes were cast in this election. However, the process wasn't without hurdles. The Election Authority rejected more than 13 lakh votes and put over 5 lakh votes on hold due to a lack of valid documentation. Candidates were given a window from 13 to 19 September to rectify the issues with their votes. It was only after this correction process that the final results were tabulated and released by the authority.
