New Delhi : A case of cheating of lakhs of rupees from a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer has come to light in Noida. He lost Rs 8.17 lakh after befriending a foreign woman on Facebook. After realizing the fraud, he has now lodged a complaint with the police against the accused woman and others.

Former IPS officer RP Singh has filed a complaint at the Cyber ​​Crime Police Station, Sector 36, Noida, that a foreign woman duped him of lakhs of rupees. He had a meeting with, which also included a woman named Janet. He said that Janet became his friend on Facebook a few days ago and said in May that she was going to come from London to Lucknow.

RP Singh alleged that a few days later someone called him after taking the name of Mumbai airport and said that Janet had brought Rs 1.5 crore from London and he took Rs 68 thousand from him as customs duty to get rid of Janet and the money. . The former officer alleged that after this, a total of Rs 8.17 lakh was taken from him several times on other items.

Later on realizing that he had been cheated, he lodged a complaint with the police station. Inspector Rita Yadav, in-charge of cyber crime police station said that a case of cheating has been registered against Janet and others and investigation is going on.
