A shocking and heart-wrenching incident has emerged from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a man was shot dead in broad daylight right in front of his wife, while the victim had traveled to the city to support his wife, who was appearing for the UP Police recruitment examination. The couple had entered into a love marriage just 4 months ago, a decision that reportedly faced severe opposition from the woman's family. This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the local community and created a state of panic outside the examination center.
Details of the Incident in Rampur Maniharan
The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Rampur Maniharan area of Saharanpur. According to the information received, 24 year old Shiv Kumar, a resident of the Babri police station area in Shamli district, had reached Gochar Inter College in Rampur Maniharan. He was accompanied by his wife, Akanksha, who was scheduled to take the UP Police recruitment exam at that center. After the examination concluded, the couple was preparing to return home in their car when the situation took a violent turn, while akanksha's brother, Manjeet, arrived at the scene and intercepted their vehicle.
The Confrontation and Fatal Shooting
It's reported that Manjeet approached the car and demanded that his sister, Akanksha, leave her husband and return home with him. When Akanksha refused to comply with his demands, a heated argument broke out between Manjeet and Shiv Kumar. As the verbal altercation escalated, Manjeet allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Shiv Kumar in the head at close range. The victim collapsed instantly, covered in blood, as the attacker fled the scene. The sudden sound of gunfire caused chaos among the candidates and bystanders present outside the college.
Family Rivalry and Police Investigation
Upon receiving information about the shooting, the local police rushed to the spot and transported the critically injured Shiv Kumar to the hospital. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Akanksha, the victim's wife, has formally accused her brother Manjeet of the murder. She stated that they had married for love approximately 4 months ago, but her family was vehemently against the relationship. She believes the murder was an act of revenge fueled by this long-standing grudge. Shiv Kumar's brother, Shivam Kumar, also corroborated that family opposition to the marriage was the primary motive behind the killing. The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and are in the process of registering a case based on the formal complaint. Multiple police teams have been formed and are currently conducting raids at various locations to apprehend the absconding accused.
