Nepal cricket team captain and former IPL franchise Delhi Capitals leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been accused of rape by a girl from Kathmandu. On the complaint of a 17-year-old girl, the police have started investigation into the matter. The girl has said in her report that Lamichhane allegedly raped her twice.

Lamichhane is currently in the West Indies to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He has not given any statement in this matter so far. Nepal Police has started investigation into the alleged rape complaint against national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane, Nepal Police told news agency ANI on Wednesday.

Kathmandu district police range chief Bharat Bahadur Bohora said the police circle at the city's Gaushala filed a complaint on Wednesday. "Police is sensitive to such serious incidents. Kathmandu Valley Police Office chief Ravindra Prasad Dhanuk said that we have started investigating the matter after the medical test.

The 22-year-old Lamichhane played in the IPL in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. He has taken 13 wickets in 9 IPL matches. In T20I cricket, Lamichhane has taken 85 wickets in 44 matches for Nepal.
