Bollywood actor Sanjay Kapoor has welcomed daughter Shanaya to the industry and shared a picture from her shoot in Lucknow. Shanaya is working with the team of Gunjan Saxena biopic that is being shot in Lucknow. Janhvi Kapoor plays the titular role in the film that also features Pankaj Tripathi as her father.

Sharing a picture of Shanaya, Sanjay wrote, “Shooting in 41 degrees as an assistant director, warm welcome to the film industry #day20.” Shanaya’s face is not visible in the picture as she has a scarf covering most of it, perhaps to fight the heat.

He had announced in February that Shanaya would start as an assistant director in Bollywood. “All the best Shanaya #newbeginnings #newjourney,” Sanjay wrote alongside his post, which shows the father-daughter duo posing together. His wife Maheep also posted a picture and wrote, “My baby’s gone to Lucknow for 2 weeks #MissYouAlready #AssistantDirectorsLife #LoveYou @shanayakapoor02 #ProudMama.”

Earlier this month, Sanjay revealed his daughter is working as an assistant director on Gunjan Saxena’s biopic that stars Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role and is being shot in Lucknow. “It’s true that Shanaya is now in Lucknow and working as an assistant on Janhvi’s film. It was a joint decision. She was very keen on doing something different to understand the space, rather than just wasting time. Before she wanted to take up a film, she didn’t want to be abroad for a three-year course. Instead, she chose something personal like this. Obviously, I’m always there to guide her. Nothing in life is better than experience,” Sanjay had said.

With her decision to learn about filmmaking before venturing into her acting career, Shanaya follows in the footsteps of her actor cousins Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Arjun Kapoor. While Sonam assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Black, Arjun assisted Nikkhil Advani on Kal Ho Naa Ho, before they made their acting debut in films.
