Madhumita Murder Case: Bahubali leader of Purvanchal and former UP minister Amarmani Tripathi has got relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government on the petition filed against her release in the poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case. However, the Supreme Court has not stayed the release of Amarmani Tripathi and his wife Madhumani Tripathi. The UP government will have to respond to this notice within the next 8 weeks.

UP's famous poet Madhumita Shukla was shot dead in 2003, when she was only 24 years old. Amarmani Tripathi and his wife Madhumani Tripathi have been in jail for more than 20 years in this murder case, they are being released because of their good conduct. Against this Madhumita Shukla's sister Nidhi Shukla filed an appeal in the Supreme Court and asked to stay the release.

Nidhi Shukla had claimed in her petition that Amarmani Tripathi and his wife had spent more than 60 per cent of their sentence in the hospital and rested. In such a situation, he should not be released on the basis of good conduct. Nidhi Shukla in her letter to the President and Governor had also asked to cancel the release on the same basis.

Amarmani Tripathi is counted among the big musclemen of Purvanchal, he has been elected MLA many times from Nautanwa assembly seat. He learned politics under the tutelage of senior Congress leader Harishankar Tiwari and remained in power with many governments after that. Amarmani Tripathi has been a minister in BSP, SP, BJP governments.

What did Nidhi Shukla say after the hearing?

After the hearing in the Supreme Court, Madhumita Shukla's sister Nidhi Shukla gave a statement that I appeal to everyone to stop the release of the Tripathi couple. It has been said in several RTI applications that Amarmani never actually went to jail. Nidhi said that if I am killed when I come out, then there will be no one left to advocate in this case.
