Churu / Senior Rajasthan minister Bhanwar Lal Meghwal passes away, CM Gehlot condoles death

Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal, a prominent Dalit leader of the Congress in Rajasthan and a cabinet minister in the Gehlot government, died late on Monday evening. Meghwal, 72, breathed his last at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon. He was admitted to Medanta Hospital on 10 May. Been on ventilator for a long time. Meghwal's daughter Banarsi Meghwal died on 29 October.


Meghwal, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment and Disaster Management in the Gehlot government, was associated with Indira Gandhi's time in the Congress. He had considerable hold in the Dalit vote bank in Shekhawati and Bikaner divisions. On his death, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and other leaders expressed condolences.


Meghwal's health deteriorated on 13 April. He had brain hemorrhage. After this, he has been admitted to the hospital in Jaipur. The family later appealed to Chief Minister Gehlot to shift him to Delhi for treatment. After which Bhanwarlal Meghwal was shifted to Delhi. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.


After the demise of Master Bhanwarlal, all other programs including the Congress workshop to be held on Tuesday were postponed. There will be a state mourning in the state on Tuesday. Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal's image was considered to be a skilled administrator. He was also the Minister of Education in the previous government of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Currently, he was an MLA from Sujangarh seat in Churu. He has been an MLA 5 times so far.


Gehlot himself went to the airport

Master Bhanwarlal's stature in Congress can be gauged from the fact that when he was shifted to Medanta on 10 May, he himself went to Gehlot Airport. Under his supervision, Gehlot got him shifted to Medanta. Apart from this, Gehlot and Sachin Pilot also came to take their movement while being admitted in Jaipur.


Meghwal's wife became a panchayat committee member five days ago

Kesar Devi, wife of Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal, has become a member of the Panchayat Samiti five days ago. The Congress nominated Kesar Devi as a candidate for Panchayat Samiti member in Shobhasar block in Sujangarh in Churu district. After this, 5 people withdrew their nominations on the day of withdrawal of nominations. After this, Kesar Devi is elected unopposed.


Became famous due to statements, became MLA 5 times

Master Bhanwarlal, who started politics in 1977, was recognized as a SC leader in the Congress. Bhanwarlal contested 10 times from Sujangarh assembly constituency in Churu district in 5 times (1980, 90, 98, 2008 and 2018). They also lost five elections. While minister of education, he was the minister in charge of Sriganganagar district and was in charge of Sriganganagar seat in the last Lok Sabha election. Bhanwarlal, who was famous due to political statements on employees and transfers, could not complete the five-year term of education minister in the previous Gehlot government of Congress.
