Shah Rukh Khan Wins Supreme Court Battle Over Mannat Renovation Approval

The Supreme Court has cleared the way for the renovation of Shah Rukh Khan's iconic bungalow, Mannat, by dismissing a petition against the addition of two extra floors.

In a significant legal victory for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan, the Supreme Court of India has cleared the path for the renovation of their iconic Mumbai residence, Mannat. The apex court dismissed a petition that sought to challenge the permissions granted for adding additional floors to the sea-facing bungalow located in Bandra. This decision marks a major relief for the actor, ensuring that the planned structural changes to his home can proceed without further legal hurdles.

Supreme Court Dismisses Challenge to CRZ Approval

The legal proceedings reached a conclusion on Tuesday when a bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice V. Mohana delivered their verdict, while the petition had specifically targeted the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) approval that allowed the superstar to add 2 more floors to his existing residence. However, the Supreme Court bench refused to interfere with the earlier decision made by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The judges observed that the authorities responsible for granting the renovation permissions had strictly adhered to all legal provisions and statutory requirements. Consequently, the court found no grounds for judicial intervention in the matter.

Court Questions Petitioner's Intentions

The challenge against the renovation of Mannat was initiated by a resident of Mumbai who raised questions regarding the legality of the approvals granted for the Bandra bungalow. During the hearing, the Supreme Court expressed skepticism regarding the motives behind the filing of the petition. The bench noted that, at first glance, the intent of the petitioner appeared suspicious. Finding a lack of substantial evidence or a solid legal basis to support the claims, the court dismissed the plea. With no stay order issued on the construction, the renovation work at Mannat is now officially permitted to continue as planned.

Temporary Relocation to Pali Hill

Shah Rukh Khan originally purchased the bungalow in 2001 and named it Mannat, a word that signifies a wish or a prayer made from the heart. Due to the extensive renovation work currently underway at the residence, the actor has temporarily moved out of the bungalow. Shah Rukh Khan, along with Gauri Khan and their children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam, has shifted to a luxury apartment building in the Pali Hill area of Mumbai. Reports indicate that the superstar has rented 4 floors of a building owned by film producer Vashu Bhagnani to accommodate his family during this transition period.

Professional Engagements and Upcoming Projects

On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan remains highly active and is currently occupied with the filming of his upcoming movie titled King. Recent weeks have seen several videos and photographs from the sets of King circulating on social media platforms. One such viral video captured Shah Rukh Khan filming alongside Deepika Padukone, where he was seen being particularly attentive and caring toward the pregnant actress. The film King is set to feature a notable cast, including Shah Rukh Khan's daughter Suhana Khan in a lead role, along with Abhay Verma and Abhishek Bachchan, who are also integral parts of the project.
