It's official! Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani are coming together for Karan Johar's Shershaah. The film is a biopic on Kargil hero Param Vir Chakra recipient Vikram Batra. Karan Johar took to Twitter to make the big announcement and also revealed that the shooting of the film will begin soon.

Shershaah is an inspiring story of Captain Vikram Batra, an Indian Army officer, who was martyred in the Kargil War at the age of 24.

Directed by Vishnu Vardhan, Shershaah is based on the true story of the Kargil war hero Vikram Batra.

After donning the uniform in his last film Aiyaary, Sidharth Malhotra will once again play an army officer.

Sidharth will play a double role, where he will portray both Vikram Batra and his twin, Vishal Batra.

"This is my first biopic and I am super excited for it. He has a brother but the film is predominately about Captain Vikram. We are planning how to cleverly deal with it (double roles). He impacted so many people in the Army. I won't say he is a personality that everybody knows but I felt it was a story that needed to be told. I found his story fascinating," the actor told PTI.

Captain Vikram Batra of 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles had fought in the Kargil War in June 1999 in the Dras sub sector and was instrumental in the capture of Point 5140 on the Tololing Ridge leading to Tiger Hill. He laid down his life during the subsequent operation of Point 4875, bravely rushing forward to rescue Lieutenant Naveen, a subaltern under Batra. On 15 August, 1999, his father received Vikram's Param Vir Chakra Award posthumously.
