Smriti Mandhana will lead the Indian women's team for the first time. The three-match Twenty20 International series against England will start from March 4 in Guwahati. Smriti Mandhana has been rewarded for her consistent performance by getting a chance to showcase her leadership skills in international cricket. Mandhana will lead the Indian women's team for the first time in her career.

Smriti Mandhana has been named the captain of the Indian women's team for a three-match Twenty20 Intenational series against England to be played in Guwahati from March 4. Mandhana will lead the Indian women's team for the first time in her career.

Regular skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was ruled out of the series due to an ankle injury. Harmanpreet, who also missed the ongoing three-match ODI series, is yet to recover fully from her ankle injury.

In her absence, opener Mandhana will lead the 15-member women's squad which also includes ODI skipper Mithali Raj.
