Sri Lanka Crisis : Sajith Premadasa, the front-runner for the post, withdrew his nomination amid the new presidential election in Sri Lanka. He didn't even give any concrete reason for this. Meanwhile, in one of his tweets, he has made an emotional appeal to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. On the other hand, the election of the President is being held in the Parliament of Sri Lanka in a triangular contest.

Actually, in one of his tweets, Sajith Premadasa wrote that whoever becomes the President of Sri Lanka, Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, my humble request to all the political parties of India and the people there is that Mother Lanka and its people should come out of this disaster. Keep helping people. This sentimental appeal of Sajith Premadasa is going viral.

Earlier, Sajith Premadasa himself had informed about his withdrawal from the candidature through Twitter. He tweeted that I withdraw from my presidential candidacy for the good of my country that I love. Our party will work hard towards opposition cooperation.

A total of four leaders, including current caretaker President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, staked claim for the presidency, but a day before the election, Sajith Premadasa surprised everyone by withdrawing his nomination. Now there are only three names left for the presidential race.

On the other hand, for the first time in 44 years, the Sri Lankan Parliament is going to directly elect the President in a triangular contest on 20 July. Apart from acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Dullas Alhapparuma and Anura Kumara Disanayake are in the fray for the presidential election. One of these three will be elected as the President.
