Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: The Government of India is celebrating the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' on the 75th anniversary of the country's independence. On this special occasion, the central government has decided to decorate the historical buildings of the country with tricolor light. But this rule will not apply in the case of Taj Mahal. Due to a special direction of the Supreme Court, the Taj Mahal cannot be lit at night. Incidentally, the Taj Mahal is the first monument in India to be illuminated at night for the first time for a festival.

The Taj Mahal was decorated after the Second World War

Vishal Sharma, editor of Agra's Tourist Welfare Chamber, told that when the Allied forces won the Second World War about 77 years ago, the Taj Mahal was decorated with colorful lights. Not only this, special programs have also been organized from time to time inside the monument.

Because of this, the Taj Mahal will not be lit

According to social activist Vijay Upadhyay, the Taj Mahal was last illuminated at night on 20 March 1997 during a music concert by the famous pianist. The next morning the Taj Mahal was found full of dead insects. After which the Chemical Wing of the Archaeological Survey of India recommended that the Taj Mahal should not be decorated with lights at night. Because insects damage the marble of the monument. Since then, the ban on lighting in the Taj Mahal has not been lifted. Although there are many better lighting options available these days.

Center's gift on August 15

Union Culture Minister Gangapuram Kishan Reddy said that about 3,500 monuments in the country protected by the Archaeological Survey of India have been made free to roam as the 'Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav'. Between August 5 and August 15, people will be able to roam here for any fee. This rule will also apply to the Taj Mahal.
