Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee accused the BJP of buying votes in West Bengal and told people to take the money from the saffron party but vote for 'joda phool' (TMC’s symbol).

He further said that this is a fight to eradicate the outsiders who are trying to impose their culture on Bengal.

"Even after my throat is cut I will say Jai Bangla & Jai Mamata Banerjee. No matter what, Mamata Banerjee will not bow down her head before Delhi," he added.

‘West Bengal will elect Mamata Banerjee for the third time’

Addressing the gathering in South 24 Parganas district, the Diamond Harbour MP asserted the TMC will secure 250 plus seats while the saffron party will find it difficult to cross the double-digit mark.

The TMC is going to form the government for the third consecutive term and the party will stay in power for 50 years, said Banerjee.

On Dinesh Trivedi's resignation from Rajya Sabha, Banerjee said he was feeling suffocated so let him go and get admitted in BJP's ICU.

'Outsiders will not rule Bengal'

Raising the 'outsider' plank once again, Banerjee claimed that BJP leaders coming from north India are a "bunch of outsiders" who are not aware of the culture of Bengal and spreading fake news to confuse people.

Many TMC leaders have jumped ship ahead of the assembly elections.

On Friday, Trivedi, without naming poll strategist Prashant Kishor, said the Trinamool Congress has been hijacked by a consultant and now it doesn't even belong to Mamata Banerjee.

The former union minister is set to join Bharatiya Janata Party in the next few days.

Sources told ANI that Trivedi has already met the top leadership of the party and is all set to join the saffron party.
