A shocking incident has come to light from the political corridors of Bihar, involving the family of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. A major theft has been reported at the official government residence of Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and a former minister. The residence, located at 42 Harding Road in Patna, became the scene of a high-profile crime where the primary suspect isn't an outsider but a close confidant of the leader. Tej Pratap Yadav has filed a formal First Information Report (FIR) against his personal assistant (PA), Motilal Rai, at the Sachivalaya police station in Patna. The police have initiated a thorough investigation based on the written complaint and are currently searching for the accused.
Details of the Stolen Assets and Cash
According to the application submitted to the police, the incident took place on the night of June 22, 2026. Tej Pratap Yadav informed the authorities that a substantial amount of cash and valuable items were missing from the cupboard at his residence. The stolen cash, amounting to 20,00,000 rupees (Twenty Lakh Rupees), was reportedly part of the party fund. In addition to the cash, the thief also made away with significant gold jewelry, including a 2 tola gold chain and 1 gold ring. The loss of these assets has prompted an immediate call for legal action and recovery.
High-End Electronics and Sensitive Data Missing
The list of stolen items provided in the FIR is extensive and includes several expensive and sensitive electronic devices. The accused allegedly stole 4 iPhone 17 Pro Max mobile phones, which are among the most premium gadgets available. Plus, the theft included 1 MacBook laptop, 1 Lenovo laptop, and 1 iPad. Beyond the hardware, the FIR mentions the loss of 2 hard disks and 4 Sony pen drives. The disappearance of these storage devices is particularly concerning as they often contain sensitive information and data related to political and personal matters.
Eyewitness Accounts of the Escape
Tej Pratap Yadav has explicitly named his PA, Motilal Rai, as the perpetrator of this crime. Motilal Rai is a resident of Bishunpur Said Ali (Maniarpur) in the Vaishali district. The complaint highlights that the theft wasn't just discovered after the fact but was witnessed by members of the household staff. At approximately 11:30 PM on the night of June 22, Tej Pratap's driver, Anil Yadav, and another resident named Vishal, reportedly saw Motilal Rai carrying a bag and jumping over the boundary wall of the government residence to escape under the cover of darkness. Upon checking the cupboard immediately after this suspicious activity, the staff found the cash and valuables missing.
Police Investigation and Raids
Following the registration of the FIR, the Sachivalaya police station has swung into action, while tej Pratap Yadav has urged the Station House Officer (SHO) to ensure the immediate arrest of Motilal Rai and the recovery of the 20,00,000 rupees belonging to the party fund along with the other stolen items. The police have already recorded the statements of the eyewitnesses, Anil Yadav and Vishal, to strengthen the case. Multiple teams have been formed to conduct raids at the potential hideouts of the accused PA in Patna and his native village in Vaishali. The incident has caused a stir in Patna, highlighting security concerns even within high-security government zones.
