UP: A large number of children are becoming 'victims' of dengue, malaria and virus fever in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. In one such case, a five-year-old girl died due to lack of timely treatment. The family of this five-year-old girl kept pleading for her admission since 8 in the morning, but they did not insist in front of the 'ruthless system'. The family members were sometimes sent upstairs and sometimes downstairs for treatment in the hospital premises. Eventually at 11:40, this girl lost the 'battle' against death. After the child's death, the helpless family took the dead body in an ambulance. In another incident, another girl died outside the hospital.

Significantly, Firozabad district of UP and some other districts are currently in the grip of viral and dengue fever and due to this many people including children have lost their lives. In Firozabad, the death toll due to fever has crossed 50. The District Magistrate has suspended three doctors for negligence in the medical facility case. Earlier this month, an 11-member team of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also reached Firozabad to find out the cause of the fever. Sadar MLA Manish Asija has claimed more than 60 deaths due to fever. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had also expressed concern over the outbreak of viral and dengue fever in Firozabad and some other districts of UP. In a tweet on September 2, he said that all possible health facilities should be provided to the people and appropriate steps should be taken to prevent the spread of the disease.
