Vice Presidential Election 2022: The country will get a new Vice President today. Elections are going to be held today for the post of Vice President and the results of this election will be declared today evening itself. This time in the Vice Presidential election, Jagdeep Dhankhar, the former Governor of West Bengal, is from the NDA side. Jagdeep Dhankhar is facing opposition candidate Margaret Alva. The tenure of the current Vice President Venkaiah Naidu is ending on August 11. Before this a new Vice President has to be elected. The Vice-President is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, so today a decision will be taken on this as well. The eyes of the whole country are fixed on the voting for the Vice Presidential election to be held from 10 am.

Government and opposition face to face

After the presidential elections, once again another political ground has come true. The government and the opposition are facing each other like every time. We are talking about the Vice Presidential elections of the country in which once again the opposition and the government will show their strength to each other. Voting has started at 10 am for the Vice Presidential election being held today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cast his vote. Let us inform that a total of 788 votes can be cast in this election. In this, 543 MPs of Lok Sabha and 243 members of Rajya Sabha are exercising their franchise. In this selection process, 12 nominated MPs will also be included in the Rajya Sabha members.

What is the selection process of the Vice President

The Vice President is elected through ballot paper. The MPs have to decide the priority on the basis of their choice. Every voter has to give priority to all the candidates. Jagdeep Dhankhar, the current Governor of Bengal, has been made a candidate for the Vice Presidential elections from NDA. On the other hand, the opposition has fielded Margaret Alva.

NDA candidate's victory maths

Like the presidential elections, this time also the victory of NDA is considered almost certain. BJP alone is in a position to make Jagdeep Dhankhar win the election. BJP has 303 members in Lok Sabha and 91 in Rajya Sabha. A meeting of NDA MPs was also held in the Library Building of Parliament on Friday late evening before voting. In this meeting, many big leaders including BJP President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah attended. During this meeting, an exercise was conducted to prevent the possibility of invalid voting in the Vice Presidential election.

BJP's Master Stroke

Like President Draupadi Murmu, making Jagdeep Dhankhar the candidate is being considered a masterstroke of the BJP. Dhankhar hails from Rajasthan, belongs to a farmer family and comes from the Jat community. Jat farmers were also involved in large numbers in the farmers' movement against the Modi government.

multiple targets with one arrow

Apart from this, the number of Jat voters and farmers is significant in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh. Jat voters play a decisive role in many constituencies. In Rajasthan, assembly elections are also to be held next year. It is worth noting that while announcing Dhankhar's candidature, BJP President JP Nadda also addressed him as 'farmer's son'. Like in the presidential elections, the opposition once again appeared isolated in these elections. BSP supremo Mayawati announced support to Jagdeep Dhankhar, even then many meanings of this decision were being drawn.

which side which side

The TMC, which is in power in West Bengal, has distanced itself from this election. NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar has got the support of YSRCP, BSP, TDP, BJD, AIADMK, opposition parties of Shiv Sena etc. According to the calculations of the electoral college, two-thirds of the votes are visible in favor of Dhankhar. In such a situation, the victory of Dhankhar seems certain in terms of statistics. Jagdeep Dhankhar is expected to get close to 515 votes. On the other hand, considering the support of the opposition parties that Alva got, it is being estimated that he can get around 200 votes. On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which is in power in Delhi and Punjab, has announced to support the opposition candidate Margaret Alva. Similarly, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has also supported Alva.

Even in the Vice Presidential elections, the strength of the opposition is almost over in front of the NDA and the BJP. In such a situation, there are speculations that if the election of the country's Presidential election, held recently, was the way to victory in the general election of Lok Sabha in the year 2024, then will the Vice Presidential election prove to be the seal of that victory?
