Torajan people: There is a society in Indonesia where family members do not perform funeral or burial after death but keep them with them. People of Torajan people of Indonesia also consider death spiritually a part of their lives and live with a dead member of the family.

Families keep the bodies of their deceased members in their homes for years. Not only that, they traditionally invite him to lunch every day. They do this until they are finally buried. In contrast to the lifestyle in which we live, people of Torajan people living in the mountains of Sulawesi in Indonesia treat dead members as if they are sick and not dead.

In Toraja, it is customary to feed the deceased every day and to bed the corpses comfortably in a separate room in the family home; Unless the family performs the proper funeral of the deceased person. After the funeral, the dead are eventually buried in graves. But still they are regularly seen, cleaned and given new clothes in a ritual called Menne (care of ancestors).

It is customary for Torjans to place gifts in a coffin, such as a bracelet or watch. Other people can also bury the diamond with their loved ones. Sometimes robbery also occurs due to this. Some Torjans keep their gifts with the dead as secret.
