UPI Payment: Unified Payments Interface i.e. UPI payment platform is completely an Indian product whose sting is ringing all over the world. This is being seen as a change in the world of banking. It has been so successful that apart from India, payments are being made through it in many countries including Bhutan, UAE, Sri Lanka. Not only this, some other countries like Canada have also started UPI payment.

According to media reports, America and China are also highly influenced by India's UPI system. It is even said that America's own UPI system has not been successful because only its citizens are not using it.

It is also being claimed in the media reports that Pakistan wants to adopt UPI but the Government of Pakistan is currently avoiding it citing security reasons.

Some important things related to UPI

The UPI platform was launched in 2016. It was created by the National Payment Corporation of India, while it was implemented under the supervision of the RBI.

This is a free of cost service. Apps like PhonPe, Google Pay, Paytm are major payment gateway platforms of UPI in India. In December last year, a record UPI payment of Rs 12.82 lakh crore was made.
