According to a TOI report, many Vi users are getting SMS and WhatsApp messages regarding 5G, giving people a chance to click on the link and connect to the 5G network. But it is fake. Users got the message, 'Vi 5G network is live. Click on the link below or call XXXXX number to upgrade.

It has been said in the report that the link in the SMS is attached to the PayTM account. The link is clicked by giving the lure of 5G. Which takes you directly to the payment option. Due to this their phone gets hacked and users lose money. Telecom operators have advised users not to beware of such scams. Let us tell you, Jio and Airtel are rolling out 5G service and for this there is no need to buy 5G SIM. Only 4G sim will work.
