Rajasthan | An infiltrator from Pakistan had reached India to plot the assassination of former BJP leader Nupur Sharma. This intruder was trying to enter Indian territory in Sri Ganganagar area of ​​Rajasthan. Sri Ganganagar SP Anand Sharma said that on the night of July 16-17, an accused was caught near the border fencing. He has been identified as Rizwan Ashraf, a resident of Kuthiyal Sheikh, Pakistan. Two knives were also recovered from his bag.

The SP said, the accused told that he had come to India to act on Nupur Sharma's statements. He had no idea where she lived, he was only so religiously motivated that he passed out.

“During the initial interrogation, he had revealed his plan to kill BJP leader Nupur Sharma. He seems to be religiously motivated. He was produced in a court from where he was remanded to police custody for five days. He said that he has no information about Nupur Sharma's residence and how will he reach her.

His contacts are also being questioned, he added. He is being questioned since July 18. An FIR has been registered against the accused under sections of the Foreigners Act, Indian Passport Act and Arms Act.
