Australia Pull Out Of ODIs vs Afghanistan: The ODI series between Australia and Afghanistan to be held in March 2023 will no longer happen, as the Australia Cricket Board has refused to play cricket with Afghanistan. The Australian cricket team will also have to face a big loss due to this decision. Knowing this, the Australian Cricket Board has shown courage and has decided not to play any match with the Afghanistan team. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has also expressed concern about the situation in Afghanistan.

The Australian Cricket Board (Cricket Australia) has refused to play the ODI series against Afghanistan due to the anti-women decree of the Taliban government. Actually, Australia is against the decision of the Taliban government sitting on the throne of Afghanistan, in which Taliban has imposed many restrictions on women and girls in Afghanistan.

The Taliban government has banned women and girls in Afghanistan from going to university and working in NGOs. Not only this, there is also a ban on participation of women in sports in Afghanistan. Recently, the Taliban government in Afghanistan had banned women from leaving their homes for education and employment, parks and gyms.

The Australian Cricket Board has also got the support of the Government of Australia for this big decision, for which the Cricket Board has also thanked its government. The board issued a statement saying, 'Thanks to the government for supporting this big decision.'

When was the series to happen?

Australia's cricket team is going to visit India in the month of February. A series of four Test matches and three ODIs will be played between India and Australia. After this series, Australia had to play a three ODI series with Afghanistan. These matches were to be held in UAE. However, now this series will not be played after the refusal of the Australian Cricket Board. The Australian Cricket Board said, 'Cricket Australia is committed to advancing women and men around the world. The board is also in talks with the Cricket Board of Afghanistan to improve the status of women and girls in their country.

How much will Australia lose?

The three ODI series against Afghanistan in the UAE is also a part of the ICC Super League. In such a situation, if Australia refuses to play in this series, it will have to bear a huge loss. For not playing the series, 30 points will be directly added to Afghanistan's account.

However, this will have no effect on Australia, as Australia has already qualified for the ODI World Cup to be held in India this year. Afghanistan is the only full time member of the ICC which does not have a women's cricket team. This is the reason that the Afghanistan team will not be seen even in the Women's T20 World Cup starting on Saturday.
