Pakistan Election 2024: There is a general election in Pakistan today i.e. on Thursday. Voting will start at 8 am (8.30 am Indian time). Voting will end at 5:30 pm. 5121 candidates are trying their luck in this election. Of these, 4,806 are men, 312 are women and two are transgender candidates. In Pakistan, which is struggling with economic crisis, 12.85 crore voters will elect the new government. For this, there is a huge contest between three parties PTI, PMN-L and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

9,07,675 polling stations have been set up for the general elections. Strict security arrangements have been made for the general elections in Pakistan. Six and a half lakh security personnel have been deployed. In this election, Nawaz Sharif will be eyeing to become Prime Minister for a record fourth time. At the same time, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is the face of the Prime Minister's post from PPP. In such a situation, the question arises whether the jailed Imran Khan will be able to defeat Nawaz Sharif?

Voting will be cast on how many seats?

Let us tell you that there are a total of 336 seats in the Pakistan National Assembly, out of which voting takes place only on 266 seats. The majority figure is 169. 60 seats are reserved for women and 10 seats are reserved for non-Muslims. Punjab province has the maximum of 141 seats, Sindh has 61 seats, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has 45 seats, Balochistan has 16 seats and Islamabad has three seats.

What is the number of polling stations?

More than 12.85 crore registered voters will vote in this election. For this, the Election Commission of Pakistan has established 9,07,675 polling stations across the country. At the same time, 44,000 polling stations are normal while 29,985 have been declared sensitive and 16,766 highly sensitive.

Imran Khan in election battle from jail

Cricketer-turned-politician PTI Chief and former PM of the country Imran Khan is currently in jail. He is in the election battle from jail itself. After April 2022, he is continuously waging a campaign against the army in Pakistan. He has been in jail continuously since September last year. Many cases are registered against Imran Khan. On the other hand, there is Nawaz Sharif who has been the Prime Minister of Pakistan thrice. He returned to Pakistan from London last year after four years of exile. Many cases are registered against him also. The previous government was run by his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif.

Nawaz will become PM for the fourth time, claims Shahbaz

Before the general elections, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif has made a big claim about Nawaz Sharif. He said that if his party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz gets majority in the parliamentary elections, then his elder brother Nawaz Sharif will become the next Prime Minister of Pakistan.
