With the increasing heat in the state, the process of burning of forests has also intensified. In this fire season in 24 hours across the state, maximum 31 places have caught fire in forests. There were 17 incidents of forest fire in Garhwal, 13 in Kumaon and one in the national park. About 35 hectares of forest wealth has been damaged in 24 hours.

The worrying aspect in the incidents of forest fire is that most of the incidents of fire are coming to the fore in the reserved forest areas. In the last 24 hours, fire broke out at 14 places in the reserved forest area in Garhwal, while at three places in the Van Panchayat area. Similarly, fire broke out at 13 places in the reserved forest area in Kumaon region.

Chief Conservator of Forests, Forest Fire and Disaster Management Nishant Verma said that a total of 30.95 hectares of reserved forest area and 4.5 hectares of forest area have been affected in these incidents. He said that so far 214 incidents of forest fire have taken place in this fire season. While 260.16 hectares of forest area has been affected. The total damage has been assessed to be more than Rs 7.50 lakh.

The forests of Kimoli and Simli have been burning for two days.

As soon as the summer season begins in Chamoli, Karnprayag, fire has started in the forests of Chamoli district. There has been a huge fire in the forests of Rayal, Koladungri, Falota and Ghuladi of Simli area including Kimoli of Kapiri belt since Monday evening. Hundreds of pine plants including oak, buransh, phaniyat have been burnt by the fire. While the whole area is covered with smoke.
