The world's number one female tennis player Ashleigh Barty has surprised everyone by announcing her retirement. Australia's star player has suddenly said goodbye to tennis at the age of 25. He created history by winning the Australian Open title in January this year.

Barty announced his retirement this morning by sharing a video on his official Instagram account. He wrote, "Today is a difficult and emotional day for me to announce my retirement from tennis. I didn't know how to share this news with you so I asked my good friend Casey DeLucca to help me out. Said. I am very grateful and proud of what this sport has given me. Thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey."

Barty's illustrious career

Barty won three Grand Slams in his career. First he won the French Open in 2019. After this he won Wimbledon in 2021 and Australian Open in 2022. Barty was out of the fourth round twice (2018, 2019) at the US Open. Barty won 15 singles and 12 doubles titles in her short career. She remained the top player for 114 consecutive weeks. She is the fourth player in the world to be ranked number one for the most consecutive days.
