Morbi Bridge Collapse: Chinese President Xi Jinping has condoled the death of 135 people in the bridge collapse in Gujarat's Morbi city. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the bridge accident site in Morbi and reviewed the ongoing search and rescue operation there. The Prime Minister also met the injured under treatment at a hospital. The officials briefed the Prime Minister about the relief operation after the accident. On Sunday, 135 people died when the bridge fell into the Machhu river. The Prime Minister conducted an aerial survey of the area before reaching the spot. This bridge connected Darbargarh Palace with Swaminarayan Mandir. The Prime Minister reached the Darbargarh Palace where the officials briefed him about the accident and possible reasons for the collapse of the bridge.

Death toll in Morbi accident was 135

Gujarat government minister Rajendra Trivedi said the death toll in the Morbi bridge accident has risen to 135 and 170 others have been rescued so far. Officials said rescue operations in the Machhu river by the armed forces, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other agencies are still on. Rajkot Range Inspector General (IG) Ashok Kumar Yadav had said on Monday that 134 people died when the bridge collapsed in Morbi on Sunday evening. Gujarat cabinet minister Trivedi said on Tuesday, "So far, 135 bodies have been recovered by rescue teams, while around 170 people who fell in the river have been rescued alive."
