Cyclone Yaas / Yaas effect from Bihar-Jharkhand to UP heavy rains with strong winds overnight

Cyclone Yaas | The cyclone may have weakened on Thursday, but the scene it has left behind the devastation is quite frightening. From Bengal-UP to Bihar and Jharkhand, it is raining heavily with strong winds. In these states, with heavy winds, heavy rains, traffic to power supply has been disrupted. There have been many deaths due to falling trees and celestial lightning. The effect of rain has also been seen on air travel. On the other hand, Bihar and adjoining eastern Uttar Pradesh will receive light to moderate rain for the next 48 hours. One to two places of heavy rain is forecast.

Continuous rains continue in Bihar. A warning has been issued in Bihar to fall in the south and east. There is a possibility of falling in some places in central Bihar in the next 24 to 48 hours. Vivek Sinha, director of the Meteorological Center, said that due to light to moderate rains across the state for the next two days, waterlogging or flood-like situation may occur in some places. He said that since the cyclonic system has now changed into a low pressure area, the intensity of the weather has also reduced. That is, less rain than previously predicted and wind speed will be seen in the state.

The highest rainfall occurred in Bihar

In the last 24 hours, heavy rain was recorded at some places in the districts bordering the state of Jharkhand. Among these, 70 mm in Sherghati, 60 mm in Islampur and Makhdumpur, 50 mm in Tikari, Vaishali, Biharsharif, Aurangabad, Brahmapur, Bodhgaya, Ghosi, Arwal and Gaya received 40 mm rainfall.

Patna continued to rain intermittently throughout the day and between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm Thursday it received 12.8 mm of rain. In the same period, 47.8 rainfall has been recorded in Gaya, Bhagalpur 28.6, Purnia 20 in Jamui, 26.5 in Aurangabad and 30 mm in Jamui. Light to moderate rains continue in the remaining parts of the state and the situation is expected to continue for the next 48 hours.

Roads and bridges collapsed in Jharkhand, destruction in many districts

Hurricane Yas caused devastation in many districts of Jharkhand including Ranchi on Thursday. Three people have died in the state due to incessant rains. Father and son lost their lives after a house collapsed in Dhurwa, Ranchi, while a girl died in Koderma. The bridge over the Kanchi river in Tamar block of Ranchi three years ago broke down on Thursday amid heavy rains. It was not yet duly inaugurated. This bridge connected Tamar and Sonahatu blocks of Ranchi district. On the other hand, about 11 thousand people, who have been left in the rains, have been kept in relief camps.
