India / Zika virus cases found in Kerala Thiruvananthapuram district amid coronavirus pandemic

Kerla: In the midst of the corona virus epidemic, now the Zika virus has also knocked in the country. On Thursday, 13 cases of Zika virus were found in Kerala. The samples taken from Thiruvananthapuram were sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune for examination, where they have been confirmed in the investigation.

According to the World Health Organization, the Zika virus is transmitted by the bite of Aedes mosquitoes, which are active during the day. It was first detected in Ugandan monkeys in 1947. It was then found in humans in 1952 in Uganda and Tanzania. The presence of Zika virus has been found in Asia, Africa, America Pacific Islands.

The incubation period for the Zika virus is 3 to 14 days, and most people do not show any real symptoms. Some people complain of fever, rash, headache, muscle and joint pain. The Zika virus is also known to cause Gullian Barry syndrome. It also causes birth defects in newborns.

The Zika virus was rampant in Brazil in 2015, causing more than 1,600 babies to be born with the deformity. The National Institute of Virology first was able to isolate the Zika virus in November 2018. The first case of Zika virus was found in India in January 2017. After this, its cases were also found in Tamil Nadu in July 2017.
