COVID Vaccination / 18+ will not have to register for booster dose, private centers will be able to charge maximum Rs 150 only

The central government has decided to give a precautionary or booster dose to people in the age group of 18+. This dosage will start taking from April 10. Earlier on Saturday, the Union Health Secretary held a meeting with the Health Secretaries of all the states and gave necessary guidelines.

According to news agency ANI, people in the age group of 18 to 59 years will not require any registration to get the third dose, as the beneficiary will already be registered on the Co-Win app. Apart from this, only the same vaccine will be used as the third dose, which will be given as the first and second dose.

Private centers will be able to take maximum 150 rupees

The central government has also implemented rules regarding booster doses for private immunization centers. According to the central government, private centers will be able to charge only a maximum of Rs 150 as service fee.

The vaccination campaign started on 16 January 2021

  • The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16, 2021, in which healthcare workers were vaccinated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2 last year. The next phase of the COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 last year with vaccines for people above 60 years of age and those aged 45 years and above.
  • India started vaccination for all people above 45 years of age from 1st April last year. Following this, the government decided to expand its vaccination campaign by allowing everyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated against the viral disease from May 1 last year. The next phase of vaccination has started from January 3 this year for adolescents in the age group of 15-18 years.
