Udaipur News: On Tuesday, the health of 40 children suddenly deteriorated after eating mid-day meal at the Government Higher Primary School of Daikheda located in Lasadia area of Salumbhar. The children complained of vomiting, diarrhea and dizziness, after which all were immediately admitted to the local hospital. Investigation revealed that a lizard was found in the lentils served to the children, which caused this incident.As soon as the incident was reported, teams of the medical department reached the spot and started treating the children. Salumbhar District Collector Awadhesh Meena and ADM Rajlaxmi Gehlot also reached the hospital. The ADM talked to the school staff and parents. A student told that she had seen a lizard in the lentils, which was also confirmed by the employee serving the food.Kanhaiya Lal Meena, who was the BJP candidate from Dhariawad Assembly, said that the villagers informed him that there was a lizard in the food served in the school, after which the children fell ill. Lasadia's Chief Block Education Officer Pawan Rawal said that the children were immediately rushed to the hospital and orders have been given to investigate the incident. The investigation will look into the quality of food and negligence of hygiene standards.49 children affected by mid-day meal in Dausa tooEarlier, 49 children fell ill after eating potato curry and roti in mid-day meal at Government Senior Secondary School in Chudiyawas village of Dausa district on Saturday. The children complained of vomiting and stomach ache. Initially, the children were made to lie down in the classroom, but when their condition worsened, they were admitted to the government hospital in Nangal Rajawatan. Out of these, 19 children were referred to the district hospital due to critical condition.As soon as the information was received, Cabinet Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena and Collector Devendra Kumar reached the district hospital. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, they ordered an immediate investigation. All 49 children have been admitted to the district hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.Questions on hygiene in Mid-Day Meal SchemeBoth these incidents have raised serious questions on the hygiene and quality standards in the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. The incidents in Salumber and Dausa show that there is negligence in checking the quality and hygiene of food served to children in schools. The administration has started investigations in both the cases, and action has been assured against the culprits.Parents and local people are angry over these incidents. They are demanding that strict monitoring should be done in the process of preparing and serving food under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme so that such incidents do not happen again in future.
