The subtype BA.2 of the fastest-spreading Omicron variant of the coronavirus is wreaking havoc in Europe. In Italy, 90 thousand infected have been found in two days, while in France the number of people admitted to hospitals has increased rapidly. Patients are increasing in Shanghai, China. Stability is visible in corona cases in Asian countries. Things are improving in Hong Kong.

BA.2 quickly gained ground in Europe and parts of China this month. In France, Italy, Germany and Britain, there has been an increase in the cases of Kovid. The city of Shanghai in China has become the new hotspot of this variant. 4400 new cases have been found there on Monday. Lockdown has been imposed in many areas of the city.

What is the situation in these countries

France: In the last 24 hours, the number of people admitted to hospitals in France increased by 467 to 21,073. This is the highest number of such a day since February.

Hong Kong: On Monday, 7685 new Kovid infected were found. Things are now stabilizing in this financial hub of the world.

China: 4400 new cases have been found in the major commercial city of Shanghai. After two years, the infection is spreading rapidly in China. Many strict restrictions including lockdown have been imposed in Shanghai.

Italy: More than 90 new cases have been reported in just two days. On Monday, 30,710 new infected were found. 59,555 cases were found here on Sunday.

India: While new cases of corona are increasing in other countries, the phase of decline is going on in India. For this reason, America has relaxed restrictions regarding travel to India. India's Kovid rating has been reduced from Level 3 i.e. high risk country to Level 2 i.e. low risk country.

Global vaccination inequality responsible?

Inequality in global vaccination is believed to be responsible for the re-emergence of Corona. There has been a demand to abolish the patent of vaccines prepared by developed countries, so that pharmaceutical companies around the world can produce them and accelerate vaccination in their respective countries. Vaccines are currently out of reach for many poor countries due to the high cost. Although vaccine companies are contributing to the United Nations vaccination campaign, it is insufficient.

Corona is not gone: WHO

On the other hand, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the epidemic is not over yet, the corona is not gone yet. Its spread in China at the fastest rate so far is worrying. It is also being said that if a new variant is made due to the combination of BA.1 and BA.2 variants of Omicron, then it can present a new challenge of epidemic in front of the world.
