Delhi Liquor Scam: Aam Aadmi Party convenor and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is lodged in Tihar Jail in the alleged liquor scam case in Delhi. Regarding this, senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi Cabinet Ministers and MLAs observed a one-day "collective fast" at Jantar Mantar on Sunday in protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind. The Aam Aadmi Party accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of "dictatorship" and said that "people will respond to Kejriwal's arrest with their votes" in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal, Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla, Cabinet ministers Gopal Rai, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi, Kailash Gehlot and Imran Hussain, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Mayor Shaili Oberoi were among those involved in the Aam Aadmi Party protest.

Aam Aadmi Party's anger

Delhi Minister Atishi accused BJP of dictatorship and claimed that AAP's fast will give sleepless nights to BJP. Kejriwal's arrest will prove to be the last nail in the coffin of BJP. Before independence, the fast of a Mahatma had shaken the foundation of British rule in India and today this fast of Aam Aadmi Party will give sleep to the dictatorial ruler of BJP. This country has now woken up, the end of the dictator is near.”

Atishi said that with the help of false witnesses, an innocent person has been put in jail in a fake case. Protests are taking place not only in the country but also everywhere in the world in support of Kejriwal. This is a big achievement for us, our message against the dictatorial government is reaching the people. The real liquor scam has been done by BJP and its money trail has also been revealed. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax (IT) department should investigate against BJP leaders. Atishi said that party volunteers will now go door-to-door to spread AAP's message.

Singh said that out of 456 witnesses of the CBI and ED probing the case, only four had mentioned the name of the AAP national convenor. "People know very well the circumstances under which these witnesses have taken Kejriwal's name," he said.

Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said the party is now back to the way it protested in 2011-12. “People came together to sing songs for the country, kept fast. The countdown to the BJP led government has now started and there is a lot of anger among the people. People are sad about how the CM elected by them has been put in jail. BJP can target the CM every day, but due to this they are getting less votes.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Ramniwas Goyal said, "This fight has now started against those who topple governments by buying MLAs of elected governments." BJP is hungry for power and they cannot wait for five years after losing the elections. We can protect the Constitution of India. They wanted to break AAP, but we have become stronger.”

Mayor Shelly Oberoi said that the public will respond to the dictatorial attitude. “Now it has become clear that only Kejriwal can give competition to (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi. BJP has gone berserk. They felt that arresting the CM would disintegrate the party. We are praying with this fast that Kejriwal should be released soon, giving good education, healthcare and welfare to the people is not a crime.”

BJP replied

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said, "Kejriwal is involved in many corruption scams. It would have been better if Kejriwal's party had collectively repented of corruption instead of resorting to mass fasting today.

BJP's Kapil Mishra said, "Kejriwal is a fraud and is doing exactly the opposite of what he had promised before coming into politics. Kejriwal's sins will not be repented by a one-day fast because the entire party has committed so many sins that even a lifelong fast will not absolve them.
