The sudden closure of the main operation theater of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) cost the lives of many patients. As many as 80 surgeries had to be postponed due to a female nursing staff not performing duty, while many patients remained unconscious for hours due to anesthesia being given.
On Friday's incident, the management issued a notice to the nursing staff on Saturday. The management has asked the employee to show cause by April 25 as to why action should not be taken against him. Delhi Police has also received a complaint. A senior nursing officer of AIIMS said that this incident is very serious and unprecedented. After several patients were given anesthesia, further procedures were started.
