Rajasthan / Anta By-election: Campaigning Ends Today, Political Stalwarts Go All Out

The campaign for the Anta by-election concludes today, with both BJP and Congress deploying full force. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will hold roadshows. Rebel Congress leader Naresh Meena has turned the contest triangular, intensifying the race. Voting is scheduled for November 11.

The high-stakes campaign for the Anta assembly by-election is set to conclude today, leaving no further opportunity for political leaders to sway voters. This election has emerged as a significant event in Rajasthan politics, witnessing an all-out effort from both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress. From Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, numerous prominent political figures from the state have actively participated in the campaigning, making this contest exceptionally intriguing.

BJP's Full Might

The Bharatiya Janata Party has left no stone unturned in its bid to win the Anta by-election. The party's campaign has seen the active involvement of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, current Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, along with half a dozen ministers from the state government, and over a dozen MLAs. BJP State President Madan Rathore has also been consistently active in the region. Today, on the final day of campaigning, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will lead a grand roadshow in Anta in support of BJP candidate Morpal Suman. This roadshow is scheduled to commence at 12 PM from Ajitpura Balaji in the Anta area, proceeding through Josiad Chauraha, and concluding at Brahmpuri Balaji Tiraaha. Accompanying the Chief Minister will be former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP State President Madan Rathore, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, MP Dushyant Singh, BJP candidate Morpal Suman, and District President Naresh Sikarwar, all aiming to encourage voters to cast their ballots in favor of the BJP.

Congress's Vigorous Campaign

The Congress party has also entered this by-election with full vigor, deploying its top leadership across the constituency. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Juli, and PCC. Chief Govind Singh Dotasra, alongside several former ministers and Congress MLAs, have been actively engaged in the campaign. The Congress is also making every effort to win over the electorate. Today, on the last day of campaigning, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will conduct a roadshow in favor of Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya and will also address a public meeting in Mangrol. His roadshow is scheduled to begin at 10 AM from Jain Teerth, Bamulia, passing through several villages including Batavadi, Bundi, Bijora, Palsawa, Kachari, Pachelkhurd, Pachelkalan, Sarkanya, Mundli Bhairuji, Mahua, and Kishanpura, before reaching Mangrol city. Following the roadshow, he will address a public meeting organized at the Krishi Upaj Mandi Prangan in Mangrol. Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Juli, among other senior leaders, will also be present during these events.

Naresh Meena Creates Triangular Contest

Adding a significant twist to this by-election, the independent candidate Naresh Meena, a rebel from the Congress party, has heightened the anxiety of both BJP and Congress candidates. Naresh Meena has demonstrated his strength by drawing massive crowds to his two large public meetings, making both major parties aware of his considerable influence, while his entry into the fray has transformed the Anta assembly constituency election into a triangular contest, making the outcome even more unpredictable. Political analysts suggest that Naresh Meena could potentially cut into the vote banks of both major parties, making it challenging for any single party to secure a clear majority. As of now, the true sentiments of the voters remain unknown, while political pundits and analysts are equally uncertain about which candidate the electorate will favor. The voters of Anta will exercise their franchise on November 11, after which the fate sealed in the ballot boxes will be revealed on November 14 with the counting of votes. Several political observers in the region note that they've never witnessed such an election in Rajasthan, nor. Such a high level of political involvement in any by-election, underscoring the significance and intensity of this particular contest.
